Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta has expressed his surprise over how many yellow cards Kai Havertz has received this season, with the player on the verge of a two-game ban.
Arteta also expressed hope that Havertz would avoid accumulating any further bookings going forward.
Havertz’s excellent run at the Emirates continues, where he has established himself as a significant player for Arsenal, stirring their ambitions of winning the Premier League title this term.
After a crucial win against Luton Town on Wednesday, Arsenal now tops the table, with Havertz providing an assist for the opening goal.
However, the 24-year-old is close to facing a two-game ban due to his bookings, which stand at 11 this season, eight of which were received in the league.
Havertz received a yellow card during the Luton Town match, which could get him in trouble if he repeats the performance in the upcoming games against Brighton and Aston Villa, respectively.
“Yeah we have to be careful. Hopefully he won’t get booked again because we know what happens with the 10th,” Arteta said during his post-match press conference after Arsenal defeated Luton Town.
Asked if he was ‘surprised’ by Havertz’s disciplinary record, the Spaniard replied: “Yeah. If you told me another player, maybe not, but with him yeah.”
