Chelsea need to generate over £100 million in the sale of three players, including Conor Gallagher in order to avoid a Financial Fair Play (FFP) penalty from the Premier League.

This was disclosed by former Manchester City financial advisor, Stefan Borson.

Recall that both Everton and Nottingham Forest have been hit with a points deduction this season.

This was possible after they were charged with breaching the Premier League’s FFP regulations, which permit clubs to record a maximum loss of £105m across a rolling three-year period, or £35m each season.

Chelsea, meanwhile, have spent in excess of £1 billion on signing new players since Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital purchased the Premier League west London club from Roman Abramovich in May 2022.

However, Borson feels the Blues could be looking at a stronger punishment from the Premier League compared to Everton and Nottingham Forest, adding that they have to sell Gallagher, Trevoh Chalobah and Armando Broja before the FFP deadline on June 30.

“Possibly more severe,” Borson told talkSPORT.

“I think the scale of the losses they are currently forecasting, to me, appear to be vastly in excess of both Everton and Nottingham Forest.”

He added, “They have to find buyers for Trevoh Chalobah for £20m, Armando Broja for £40m, and Conor Gallagher for £50m.

“It is those sort of deals that need to be done. And by the way, they all need to be done by June 30. That, as we know, is articulated within the Forest decision.”
