Tottenham boss, Ange Postecoglou, has slammed the video assistant referee, over Pape Matar Sarr’s goal that was disallowed during their Premier League clash with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night.
Two goals were cancelled during the game as Chelsea edged Tottenham Hotspur 1-0.
First it was Moises Caicedo’s effort which came minutes after Enzo Fernandez had headed the Blues into a 1-0 lead.
In a statement, it was confirmed that Moises Caicedo’s shot was chalked off after a VAR check, because his team-mate Levi Colwill had strayed into an offside position.
Caicedo’s effort came minutes after Enzo Fernandez had headed the Blues into a 1-0 lead then Sarr’s long-range effort.
Both goals, according to a statement by the Premier League, were disallowed after minutes of VAR check.
Referee Craig Pawson had given Sarr’s goal in real time, but was then advised to review it on the VAR monitor.
During his post-match press briefing, Postecoglou could not hide his anger, describing the decision as crazy and madness.
He said, “It’s killing the game, mate. It’s not the same game as it used to be.
“The referee gave it and then needed six minutes to rule the goal out. It’s crazy mate. It’s madness.”
