Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, is set to beef up his attack as the Premier League champions close in on an agreement with Frankfurt for forward Omar Marmoush.

According to Mail Sport, Marmoush is keen to play for City and is eager to make a good move.

Frankfurt are reluctant to sell the 25-year-old particularly in the winter window.

But it would be hard to keep hold of the Egyptian, who has scored 18 goals in 24 appearances this season.

Liverpool and Arsenal were also monitoring Marmoush, but have not followed up their interest.

City are willing to splash out £50million for a player who can play across the frontline or behind the striker.

Guardiola wants to add two or three signings this window to breathe fresh life into his squad and increase competition.

Frankfurt denied any formal approach had been made by City for Marmoush last week.

But it is believed informal talks are continuing and both clubs are expected to reach an agreement over the coming days.
