Former Liverpool striker, Dean Sanders has said he feels sorry for Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag.

He noted that the club’s struggles to offload players has put the Dutchman in a tight spot.

Although Manchester United finished third-place in 2022 when Ten Hag first arrived, United endured their lowest league finish of eighth in the Premier League era last season.

He was apparently close to being sacked but for his victory over Manchester City in the FA Cup final.

United have signed the likes of centre-back, Leny Yoro and striker, Joshua Zirkzee, but are finding it difficult to sell players.

Sanders told talkSPORT, “Because they [the old players] are earning so much money, it becomes even more difficult to find those clubs.

“And now we see Harry Maguire, who I think, could have gone to five different clubs and Luke Shaw is playing centre-half instead of him.

“I feel sorry for Ten Hag who has had to deal with a lot of issues, whether it’s with Rashford or Sancho, and I don’t think his job has been made any easier.”
