Liverpool failed to pull away significantly from their Premier League rivals, following a 2-2 draw with Manchester United on Sunday.

Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Brighton yesterday meant that the Reds could go eight points clear.

The first half ended goalless at Anfield, with both sides struggling to create clear chances.

But it was United who took the lead, thanks to a sensational finish from Lisandro Martinez.

Liverpool were level within five minutes through Cody Gakpo and took the lead after Mohamed Salah stroked home a penalty.

However, Amad Diallo ensured that Ruben Amorim’s men left with a point, as he tapped in Alejandro Garnacho’s cross.

The result means Liverpool remain six points clear of Arsenal with a game in hand.
