Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has backed his former club to “sneak” into the Premier League top four this season.

The Red Devils are currently in seventh place on the table, six points off rivals Manchester City, who are fourth.

Erik ten Hag’s men have also lost eight fixtures already this season, having recently suffered defeats to both West Ham and Bournemouth.

Despite that, Ferdinand has backed United to break into the top four.

He said on TNT: “Who said sneak in, I didn’t say sneak in. United will be there.”

United travel to Nottingham Forest in Saturday’s late kick-off.
