Newcastle United striker, Alan Shearer, has claimed there are only three world-class forwards in the Premier League currently.
Shearer has named them as Erling Haaland of Manchester City, Mohamed Salah of Liverpool and Newcastle’s Alexander Isak.
“I think there are three world-class forwards in the Premier League now.
“Haaland being one, Salah being another and I think Isak has played himself into that company now,” he said.
Shearer was speaking on BBC Match of the Day, following Isak’s two goals in the 3-1 victory over Southampton on Saturday.
The Magpies went behind early as Jan Bednarek headed Southampton in front in the 10th minute.
But Eddie Howe’s equalized after Isak won and converted a penalty kick midway through the first half.
Isak grabbed his brace only four minutes after the first, curling the ball beyond Alex McCarthy.
It was the Swedish striker’s 17th of the top-flight campaign.
The result ensured Newcastle remain level on points with fourth-placed Manchester City in the Premier League table, with the champions overcoming Chelsea later in the day.
