Arsenal have once again squandered the chance to close the gap on Premier League leaders Liverpool, following a 1-1 draw with Brentford on Saturday.

Gunners boss, Mikel Arteta, made five changes to the starting XI that thrashed Real Madrid 3-0 in the Champions League.

It was a lacklustre performance from the hosts as the first half ended goalless.

However, Arsenal went ahead in the second half, through Thomas Partey’s first-time finish.

Partey got on the end of a Declan Rice pass following a quick counter-attack, to rifle the ball home.

But Brentford ensured they earned a share of the points, thanks to Yoanne Wissa’s improvised finish.

The result means that Arsenal now have 63 points, 10 adrift of Liverpool, who take on West Ham on Sunday.
