Liverpool beat Newcastle United 2-0 on Wednesday night to go 13 points clear of second-place Arsenal.

The Reds came into the game 11 points ahead of Mikel Arteta’s men on the Premier League table.

Arne Slot was absent from the touchline for the game as he began serving his two-match suspension.

Goals from either halves from Dominik Szobozslai and Alexis MacAllister ensured that they took all three points.

The win takes Liverpool up to 66 points from 28 fixtures.

Arsenal are on 51 points, after being held to a 0-0 draw by Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

In other games, Manchester City won 1-0 at Tottenham Hotspur, while 10-man Manchester United edged Ipswich Town 3-2 at Old Trafford.
