Interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy is set to conduct Manchester United’s pre-match media before their next Premier League game against Chelsea on Sunday.

The BBC reports that this is the clearest sign yet Ruben Amorim will not be in charge this weekend.

United are in talks with Sporting Lisbon over Amorim’s release.

The Portuguese club themselves have a league fixture against Estrela on Friday and a Champions League match against Manchester City in Lisbon next Tuesday.

It is believed they are looking for a 5 million euro (£4.2m) compensation fee for Amorim’s move to Old Trafford.

Amorim could in fact end up remaining in charge at Sporting until the November international break.
