Former Arsenal winger, Theo Walcott has said that Arsenal should have signed Pedro Neto in the summer.

Walcott spoke after Neto’s impressive display during Chelsea’s Premier League 1-1 draw Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Neto scored the equalizer after Gabriel Martinelli had put Mikel Arteta’s side ahead.

The Portuguese joined the Blues from Wolves for £54million in the summer transfer window.

Neto was linked with Arsenal before Chelsea signed him, and Walcott believes the winger is the kind of player the Premier League North London club need at the moment.

“When we talk about Neto – he’s the sort of player who Arsenal maybe could have signed to have given that competition to other players,” Walcott said on Match of the Day 2.

“That is kind of what they need right now, to provide that competition.”
