Equity Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. James Mwangi has informed the court that he is not seeking any refund from the Moi family. During a re-cross examination in a land case involving the Moi family, Mwangi stated that he has paid the full amount for the disputed 20-acre parcel of land.

“I believe the former President Moi received all the money,” he told the court.
According to Mwangi, the Moi family has never asked for any balance from him and the late President acknowledged that he had paid the full amount.
“When I visited Moi he said that he was happy that I had paid in full and told me how he had spent part of the money. He was in a jovial mood,” Mwangi testified.

Furthermore, he stated that he is not seeking a refund because he has already paid the full amount. Mwangi described the land case as a source of pain for him. In July, the Attorney General’s office informed the High Court that a company associated with Mwangi holds the original title to the Ksh. 300 million parcel of land located in Muthaiga, Nairobi.
