Chuba Akpom fired a brace to help Ajax defeat Heerenveen 4-1 in an Eredivisie clash on Sunday night.

The Nigerian-born forward scored in the 84th and 90th minutes, respectively.

Akpom was introduced in the 74th minute of the encounter.

The former Middlesbrough striker scored his first goal for Ajax against Volendam in midweek.

Ajax have now shot to eighth on the table with 14 points from 11 matches.

They are now six points clear of the relegation zone.
