Comedian Eric Omondi was moved beyond words after meeting a couple that lost four children in a dam tragedy in Kisumu.
The comedian shared an emotional video as the couple shared how their four children met their tragic deaths at a dam, admitting that for the first time, he could not find the words to comfort the grieving parents.
The children’s father recounted that their four children were home but sneaked to the dam to swim and drowned in a tragic turn of events.
“We have a sad story here, hawa wazazi walipoteza Watoto wanne kwa hii dam. I can imagine the pain, the agony, the stress. Hao ndio wazazi wa kwanza siwezi ambia naelewa juu sielewi na wewe pia huwezi elewa,” Omondi explained.

This loosely translates to: This couple lost four children in this dam. These are the first parents. I cannot tell if I understand their pain because I don’t.
Eric Omondi unpacks the pain
He unpacked the weight of the tragedy and vowed to stand with the grieving couple while also appealing to well-wishers to support them.
“Losing one child is very traumatising, can you imagine losing two or three na hao wamepoteza wanne (and they have lost four),” Omondi added.
Standing at the scene where the minors perished, Omondi appealed for support to help the grieving parents give their departed children a befitting sendoff.
“Watoto washatuwacha, hatuwezi kutoa hio pain, tunaweza tu kupunguza. One of the ways ni kuhakikisha tuinue maisha yao,” he stated.
Appeal for help to make the pain lighter
This loosely translates to: “The children are gone, and we cannot wipe away the pain; we can only reduce it. One of the ways is by uplifting their lives”.

“This is the saddest story I’ve seen in a long time. This Woman lost 4 children in this Dam. It is impossible to even imagine what these Parents are going through right now. We may not be able to bring them back, but we are going to stand with them. Please send whatever you can to the Mother,” Omondi stated, while providing the information through which contributions can be sent.
