Kenyan comedian Eric Omondi has launched a new initiative to support mothers who are unable to take their children to school due to financial difficulties this month.
The activist shared details of the initiative via a statement on his official social media platforms and appealed for support from well-wishers.
The initiative is in response to the overwhelming requests received from parents as the term 1 session began.
“This year we said we are leaving no one behind. These mothers, single mothers, and widows have been unable to take their children to school this January,” he stated.
The comedian added that hundreds of mothers had reached out to him seeking help to take their children to school in January.
Omondi’s Sisi kwa Sisi Education Fund
He expressed confidence that with the support of his online group, popularly known as Team Sisi kwa Sisi, the children will all go to school.
“Hundreds have contacted me seeking help, and I know by tomorrow all these kids will be in school courtesy of Sisi Kwa Sisi. Please send whatever you can,” Omondi continued.
Omondi provided information on how well-wishers can send their contributions towards the Sisi Kwa Sisi Education Fund.
He will also hold an online fundraiser today, January 21, 2026, with the session, which will run for an hour starting at 7:00 pm.
“Join us tonight live from 7pm to 8pm,” Omondi added in his appeal.
Learner joins Alliance High School
January has been a challenging period for many parents who have been unable to take their children to school due to financial challenges.
Politicians, philanthropists and well-wishers have stepped in to support in a number of cases.
Omondi shared a similar case on Monday, January 19, 2026 when he visited John Mwangi, who had resorted to working at a quarry in Mukuru kwa Njenga after his parents failed to raise the money needed to see him join Alliance Boys High School.
“This is John Mwangi… He is supposed to be at Alliance Boys High. He passed with flying colours, but he is here at Quarry in Mukuru Kwa Njenga trying to make ends meet,” Omondi stated.
“Huyu tunampeleka Alliance kesho asubuhi na mapema (we shall take him to Alliance tomorrow very early in the morning). Send whatever you can to the father,” he added.
