Police in Kuresoi South, Nakuru County, are investigating a tragic incident where a retired senior police officer allegedly shot and killed his 63-year-old wife. According to Kuresoi South police commander Jeremiah Leariwala, Joel Kiptanui, who held a valid firearm license, reportedly shot his wife Sarah Chepkemoi in the head and hand, resulting in her immediate death.

Following the shooting, Kiptanui then turned the firearm on himself, shooting himself in the chest. He succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Molo.

Details surrounding the dispute that led to the shooting remain unclear. Leariwala confirmed that Kiptanui used his licensed Ceska pistol in the incident. Police officers visited the scene, recovered the firearm, and secured rounds of ammunition. Both bodies have been transferred to the same mortuary in Molo as investigations into the tragic incident continue.
