Former Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has announced his political comeback after missing in action for a while following the August 2022 General Election.
Speaking exclusively to Citizen Digital, the Azimio la Omoja One Kenya coalition party stalwart rubbished claims that he had hung his political hat after a series of no-shows during the opposition team’s anti-government protests over the past recent months.
Joho, who revealed that he had been ailing for more than six months, said his condition is slowly improving and that he will be back up and about with fellow Azimio leaders in no time.
He reiterated his firm support for Azimio chief Raila Odinga and his cause, intimating that he will now take over the baton of leading the anti-government protests after his full recovery.
“I subscribe fully to the ideology of Raila Odinga…it must be known. I am Raila, and he is me. I have only been away because of health reasons,” he stated.
“Even as we speak, I am in recovery. I want to assure you that as soon as I feel completely recovered, Raila will be behind me in Maandamano…I will be in front and he will follow.”
Joho added: “It must be known; those who are dreaming saying that people have retired, mimi ni ODM, na ODM ni mimi. I am Raila, Raila is me. Watu wajue hiyo tu, tutakanyagana tu.”
Prior to his break from the political arena, the outspoken leader had been traversing the country as an Azimio foot soldier, while at the same time serving as the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) deputy party leader.
