The prosecution has asked the court to put on defense a former senior HR manager at the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC) accused of forging secondary and university certificates to gain employment at the State Agency.

When making the submission, the prosecution argued that it had presented sufficient evidence to implicate Irene Chesang of the said offences.

Apart from altering her academic qualifications, Chesang is also accused of forging an exemption letter dated June 29, 2008 from the Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examination Board.

“The Prosecutions, therefore, submits that that the evidence adduced is reliable, credible, cogent, sufficiently strong, and reasonable to the standard that the prosecution’s cardinal role to prove that there is sufficient evidence to prove that there is a prima facie case against all the accused persons,” the court heard.

The prosecution, which presented 17 witnesses before the court, added that the documents did not emanate from the institutions the suspect claims they came from.

The case will be mentioned October 18, 2023.
