Officials overseeing this year’s national examinations in Trans Mara East Sub-county have been sternly warned against facilitating cheating. Trans Mara East Sub-county Director of Education Walter Sirengo Wanjala emphasized that any center manager, supervisor, or invigilator caught aiding students in exam irregularities will face the full force of the law.
“Let me speak to the school heads because that is where the problem arises from. Don’t be tempted in any manner to assist candidates in cheating during the exams,” Wanjala stated.
In an interview with journalists, he urged officials to perform their duties as outlined in the Kenya National Examination Centre guidelines and regulations. He noted that the principals and those entrusted with supervision have a responsibility to ensure that the exams are conducted fairly and without incident.
Wanjala cautioned the principals against being the source of examination leaks, warning of strict consequences if they are found culpable. Deputy County Commissioner John Chirchir added that they will provide sufficient security at examination centers to enhance the safety of the students.
In Trans Mara East, a total of 9,736 candidates are set to sit for the national exams, with 5,792 sitting for the KPSEA across 100 examination centers, and 3,944 taking the KCSE.
