Legendary musician David Mathenge, popularly known as Nameless, has opened up about how he and his wife, Wahu, managed to avoid pressure concerning the gender of their youngest child, Shiro.
Speaking at an event where Sai Pharmaceuticals Kenya Limited announced the Mathenges as the official brand ambassadors for the upgraded NipNap Premium Baby Diapers, Nameless shared insights into their family journey.
Before publicly announcing their pregnancy, Nameless said that they had already undergone scans and were certain they were expecting a baby girl.
Despite widespread speculation predicting a baby boy, Nameless and Wahu remained confident in their knowledge.
“When we announced that we were expecting a child, we knew we were expecting a girl, even when everyone was telling us they knew it was going to be a boy,” Nameless said.
For the Mathenges, Nameless said the focus has always been on the health of their children rather than their gender.
“It’s really not about a boy or a girl; it’s about a healthy baby,” Nameless emphasised.
The proud father of three expressed that having daughters does not diminish his role as a parent.
“A baby that you can be able to impact. For us, we were excited that Shiro came healthy and as the beautiful shiny star she is. I am always super excited about being baba girls,” he added.
Discussing his decision to feature on the packaging of the NipNap Premium Baby Diapers, Nameless emphasised the importance of shared parenting responsibilities.
“I decided to be in the picture because I want to pass the message that bringing up a child is not only a woman’s affair but an affair of both parents being present in their children’s lives,” he said.
Speaking about their collaboration with NipNap, Wahu expressed her delight, saying: “Partnering with NipNap has been a fantastic journey.
They supported our reality show, This Love, and we’ve built a strong relationship together. I’m thrilled to work with them.”
Speaking at the launch, Mr Rajiv Joshi the CEO of SPKL’s Hygiene Division said they were excited to partner with Nameless and Wahu as they rebranded.
“We conduct extensive testing to validate the safety, performance, and quality of our products, ensuring they far surpass industry standards. By incorporating customer feedback and leveraging cutting-edge technologies, we have meticulously refined every aspect to exceed expectations. For this partnership, we got the best in the industry.”
Nameless and Wahu’s close family members attended the colorful event that took place at Movenpick Nairobi.
