Beauty and lifestyle influencer Amira announced on March 22, 2024, that she had undergone four corrective surgeries after shedding 45 kilograms. She had initially been almost 140 kilograms but over time, the number drastically came down in a few months.

Since the weight loss, Amira revealed she intended on having corrective surgeries done to shape her body; and she celebrated finally being able to have them done after publicly searching for a professional cosmetic surgeon who could handle what she needed.

“Finally did it…Allhamdulilah my surgery was a success. Am very swollen and sore but am getting the best care and love. I will share my healing journey hopefully soon. I got a breast lift, thigh plasty, lipo and a tummy tuck. I know its aloooot,” said Amira in several Instagram stories while in recuperation and attached to surgical tubes.

Nairobi News now explains what the surgeries Amira had involve:

    1. Breast lift- According to the American premier Mayo Clinic, a breast lift is a surgical procedure performed by a plastic surgeon to change the shape of the breasts. During this surgery, a surgeon removes excess skin and reshapes breast tissue to raise the breasts. This procedure is also known as mastopexy. One can chose to have this surgery if their breasts say or the nipples point downwards.  The risks involved with this surgery include scarring, changes in nipple and breast sensation, an uneven shape and size of breasts, partial or total loss of the nipples or areolae and trouble breast feeding. At the end of the day, however, the surgery is known to boost self image and self confidence.
    2. Thigh plasty- According to the Mayo Clinic, a thigh lift is a procedure that removes excess skin and fat from the thigh area to create a smoother skin and contour of your thighs and lower body.
    3. Liposuction- The Mayo Clinic describes liposuction as a procedure to suck fat from specific areas of the body such as the stomach, hips, thighs, buttocks, arms or neck. Liposuction changes the shapes of these areas in a process called contouring. It isn’t a procedure considered an over-all loss method or weight loss alternative. “When you gain weight, fat cells get bigger. Liposuction lowers the number of fat cells in a specific area. The amount of fat removed depends on what the area looks like and the volume of fat. The resulting shape changes are usually permanent as long as your weight remains the same,” explained the Mayo Clinic. The risks include contouring irregularities where your skin may appear bumpy, wavy or withered; fluid buildup in temporary skin pockets, numbness, infection, internal puncture of organs, fat embolism, kidney and heart problems
    4. Tummy tuck- A tummy tuck, popularly known as a mummy makeover, is a cosmetic procedure done to improve the shape and appearance of the abdomen. Excess skin and fat are removed from the tummy area, connective tissues are tightened with sutures and the remaining skin is repositioned to create a more toned look. The Mayo Clinic adds that this procedure can be done if one has excess fat or skin around the area of the bellybutton or a weak lower abdominal wall. The risks involved include fluid accumulation beneath the skin, poor wound healing, unexpected scarring, deep tissue damage and changes in skin sensation.
