An eyewitness has narrated the terrifying sequence of events leading up to the helicopter crash that claimed the life of MP Johana Ng’eno and five others in Mosop, Nandi County.
Speaking to the press in a video shared on TikTok on Sunday, March 1, 2026, the eyewitness recounted that the aircraft was initially flying smoothly before it descended and landed in a nearby field that appeared forested.
The eyewitness revealed that the unusual landing attracted residents, who rushed to the scene to witness what was happening.
“First, the plane was moving smoothly, then it came and landed in a nearby field. After landing safely in a place that looked like a forest, we rushed there to see it,” she said.
She explained that after a short while on the ground, the helicopter took off again, producing a loud roaring sound that forced those who had gathered to move away from the area.
Moments later, the aircraft was seen spiralling in the sky, an indication that it was in distress.
The eyewitness recalled that before they could get far from the scene, the helicopter began shaking mid-air before eventually crashing into a forested area.
“A few minutes later, it went up into the sky again, and we left the scene because of its roaring sound. Shortly after, we saw it spiralling, and before we had gone far, the plane started shaking and crashed in a forested area,” she added.

She stated that immediately after the crash, a huge ball of fire erupted, engulfing the wreckage in flames.
She further noted that residents rushed back to the scene in an attempt to help, only to find that some victims had already died while others were still trapped in the burning wreckage.
She recalled that efforts by those at the scene to extinguish the fire were unsuccessful due to its intensity, as people screamed and more residents gathered at the site.
“Immediately after it crashed, there was a huge cloud of fire. When we rushed back, we found that some people had died while others were still in flames. We started screaming, and many people came,” she said.
The eyewitness added that they remained at the scene until authorities arrived, but it was already clear that there were no survivors.
“The first thing we did was try to extinguish the fire, but it was too intense, and we kept screaming. We stayed there until officers arrived, but it was clear there were no survivors,” she said.
