Police in Thika have apprehended a 25-year-old student from Tom Mboya University, David Kioko, in connection with the murder of his girlfriend, 19-year-old Faith Musembi. Preliminary investigations suggest that Kioko allegedly killed Faith over suspicions of infidelity. Both the suspect and the victim are natives of Machakos County.
The lifeless body of Faith, a first-year student at Mt. Kenya University who was eight months pregnant, was discovered by her father last week in her rented room in Pilot Estate, Thika. Thika Police boss Lawrence Muchangi confirmed the arrest, stating that Kioko is currently undergoing interrogation and will soon be produced in court.
“We have the main suspect in custody and are conducting thorough investigations. The DCIO is on that matter and the suspect will be produced in court soon,”
The tragic incident has plunged the family into despair, prompting calls for swift justice across Machakos, Thika, and beyond. Faith’s parents, devastated by the loss of their daughter and unborn grandchild, are urging authorities to ensure that the perpetrator faces the full force of the law.
“We want the authorities to ensure that the person responsible for this heinous act is punished to the fullest extent of the law,” said Musembi’s father, Boniface Musembi.
An autopsy conducted at the Thika General Kago Funeral Home revealed that Faith succumbed to excessive bleeding. The report cited bleeding in the uterus caused by abruptio placenta, indicating that the placenta had detached, resulting in severe hemorrhaging.
