Five people lost their lives while eight others sustained serious injuries following a road accident along the Eldoret-Nakuru Highway on Saturday morning.

The 3:30 am incident occurred after a 14-seater matatu, en route to Nakuru from Eldoret, collided head-on with a truck at Migaa, Nakuru County.

Confirming the incident, Nakuru County Police Commander Samuel Ndanyi said the deceased persons comprised four men and a woman.

The survivors of the grisly road accident are recuperating at Nakuru Teaching and Referral Hospital while the matatu’s wreckage has been towed to Salgaa Police Station.

The bodies of the deceased persons have likewise been moved to a local mortuary for storage pending identification.
