Five people including a child died and several others were injured after a bus ferrying workers to a flower farm in Kiserian rolled in Isinya, Kajiado County.
The bus lost control after its brakes failed. The injured have been admitted at Isinya sub county hospital and Kenyatta National Hospital.
Confirming the incident, Isinya Sub-County Police Commander Patrick Manyasa said the Ngong veg Limited bus was transporting workers to the farm when the driver lost control of the vehicle which rolled several times killing the five passengers on the spot.
Manyasi said the driver of the bus survived the accident but escaped. Police are tracing his whereabouts.
“The accident which occurred today morning involving a bus ferrying over 60 farm workers has claimed four lives. The driver of the bus lost control before it rolled several times along the Isinya-Kiserian road near National oil Petrol station,” he said.
Fifty-two injured passengers were rushed to Isinya Sub-County Hospital while fifteen others were referred to Kenyatta National Hospital while the bodies of the deceased were moved to the Kajiado Referral Hospital awaiting postmortem.
The wreckage was towed to Isinya Police station.
