Five High School students died in an accident at around 2 pm on Tuesday afternoon along the stretch between Naivasha and Delamere on the Nakuru-Nairobi highway.

The students from Mbihi Friends Girls High School in Vihiga were part of a larger group in an 11-seater public service vehicle headed from Nakuru to Nairobi.
Reports indicated that the matatu driver reportedly collided with an oncoming lorry headed in the opposite direction as he tried to overtake.

The matatu driver then lost control and the vehicle rolled.

Five of the students died on the spot, while 7 others including the matatu driver are admitted at the Naivasha Level Four hospital after sustaining injuries.

None of the lorry’s occupants was injured.
