Content creator Nyathira has gone viral after publicly calling out gospel singer Bahati and his wife Diana Marua, demanding they return KSh 1 million her husband contributed at an event that turned out to be anything but what was advertised.
Nyathira recorded a TikTok video on November 6, 2026, speaking directly to the couple in a sharp tone.
Her husband, Nebz, is a forex trader who had attended the event and parted with a significant sum believing it was a legitimate wedding contribution.
What did Bahati actually do?
Bahati had drawn guests to what many understood to be a major wedding event, only to use the platform to launch his Mathare Member of Parliament campaign bid.
Guests who had come bearing generous financial gifts were essentially donating to a political fundraiser under the impression they were celebrating a marriage milestone.
Nyathira was having none of it. In the video, she addressed Bahati directly, insisting the KSh 1 million her husband gave must come back.
“Bahati, patia nebz one milioni yake arudi nao apa nyumbani,” she said, making clear the money was given under false pretences and was not meant for any political ambition.
She went further, issuing a pointed warning to both Bahati and Diana that if the funds were not returned, the couple would face an uncomfortable situation.
”Itabidi amehamia huko kwenu mkiwa na Diana. Mtamsongea,” she said, repeating the phrase several times for emphasis.
Nyathira’s warning to Diana Marua
What made the video particularly striking was that Nyathira directed her frustration equally at Diana, Bahati’s wife, suggesting the couple would need to handle this together.
The clip quickly gained traction online, with many Kenyans relating to the feeling of being misled at an event they had supported financially.
The situation has reignited debate around the ethics of using social gatherings as covert political fundraising platforms.
Bahati and Diana had not publicly responded to Nyathira’s demands at the time the video was circulating widely on social media.
