Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has refuted all allegations leveled against him in a corruption case involving KSh588 million. Alongside his wife Susan Wangari, Testimony Enterprises, its directors, and others, Waititu was accused in 2019 of irregularly awarding a road tender in Kiambu County.
The charges against the former governor include conflict of interest, abuse of office, money laundering, fraudulent acquisition of public property, and willful failure to comply with procurement laws. It is alleged that between July 2018 and March 2019, Waititu received Ksh.18,410,500 from Testimony Enterprises Ltd. while serving as a director at Saika Two estate developers Limited.
Waititu vehemently denied all charges, attributing them to a political vendetta orchestrated by his adversaries. However, during the court proceedings, Waititu struggled to provide evidence to support his claims, as he lacked certain documents.
Consequently, the judge scheduled the next mention of the case for June 19, with further directions to be given on August 5, 2024.
