Former Lamu Senator Anwar Loitiptip was on Thursday arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts for allegedly obtaining money by false pretence and uttering a false document.

Court documents show that Loitiptip pretended that he was in a position to sell a motor vehicle to one Samson Malonza in August 2022.

“On the 3rd of August, 2022, at Kileleshwa area in Kilimani sub-county within Nairobi County, knowingly and fraudulently uttered to Samson Malonza a forged motor vehicle registration Certificate Serial Number K4240950P purporting to be a genuine motor vehicle registration certificate for motor vehicle registration number KDA 005C,” reads one of the charge sheets.

It is alleged that with intent to defraud, he obtained Ksh.6 million by falsely pretending to sell a Toyota Land Cruiser V8.

He pleaded not guilty and was released on a Ksh.700,000 cash bail.
