Four people have been confirmed dead following a tragic road accident in the early hours of Saturday morning in Ruiru, Kiambu County.

The incident occurred at around 3:40 am near Membley in Ruiru when a private vehicle rammed into a stationary trailer.

All four occupants of the car died on the spot due to the force of the impact.

Preliminary reports indicate that the crash may have been caused by speeding, which left the driver with little time to react upon encountering the stalled trailer.

Contributing factors cited include poor visibility due to malfunctioning street lights and the alleged failure of the trailer driver to place a warning sign at the scene.
