French President Emmanual Macron has lauded President William Ruto’s climate initiatives ahead of the Africa Climate Summit scheduled for September 4 – 6, 2023.
During his annual speech on France’s foreign policy priorities, Macron emphasized his nation’s support for President Ruto’s climate initiatives.
“President Ruto has shown continuous commitment in matters of climate and I commend him for that,” he said.
President Ruto, positioning himself as a climate advocate, played a pivotal role in promoting a new financial framework to tackle global climate challenges during his visit in Paris in June 2023.
The inaugural Africa Climate Summit, spearheaded by President Ruto, aims to tackle the escalating impacts and expenses linked to climate change, particularly in Africa, while involving over 25 Heads of State.
Focus on delivering climate-positive growth and finance solutions for Africa and the world is the theme for the three-day Summit.
The summit will encompass discussions on Africa’s evaluations and contributions, the need for worldwide levies and funding mechanisms, collaborative partnerships and roles, as well as commitments and promises.
The summit will additionally serve as a platform for regional leaders to shape, inform, and influence commitments, ultimately leading to the formulation of the Nairobi Declaration.
