Kenya Power has announced that parts of four counties will experience temporary power outages on Friday, September 5, 2025.
In an advisory released on Thursday, September 4, 2025, the utility company said the disruptions are due to routine network maintenance.
In Nairobi, residents and businesses in the Runda area are expected to experience a blackout from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. The affected locations include Glee Hotel, Eliud Mathu, Runda Glove, Runda Drive, Runda Mumwe, Runda Riviera, Runda Kigwaru, and surrounding areas along Mimosa Annex, Mimosa Close, Mimosa Vale, Mimosa Gardens, and Mimosa Ridge. Parts of the Northern Bypass, Githogoro, and the vicinity of Panafrican Insurance and Mae Ridge will also be affected.
In Western Kenya, parts of Kakamega County, including the Malava Market area, Kimangeti, West Kenya Sugar, Bulovi, and Kambi Mwanza, will be without electricity from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.
Residents in the Mt. Kenya region will also be affected. In Nyeri County, the areas of Ruring’u, Skuta, and Thunguma will experience a power outage from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm. The blackout will affect households and businesses around Swahili Village, Meeting Point, Ibauini, St. Jude, Kagayu Market, Beatrice Court, Mary Immaculate, Jacaranda, Sport Gate, Galands Hospital, Waka Maternity, Soko Huru, Beavers, Oil Company, Central Mart Supermarket, Thuta, Chorong’i, Kiamunyi, parts of Micha Village and Ithenguri, Enea Academy, Ruring’u, and surrounding neighbourhoods.
In Kirinyaga County, Mwea Town and its environs will be without power from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. Affected areas include Ngurubani Secondary and Primary Schools, CCS Wanguru Dispensary, Githogondo Village, Thiba Primary and Secondary Schools, Thiba Village, Nice Digital City, and Co-op, Sidian, Equity, and Family banks. Other affected sites include Thiba Health Centre, Thiba Chief’s Camp, Karima, Mbui Njeru, Rurumi Block Villages, and local businesses such as Golden, Tai, Victory, Top Grade, Best, Global, Shiloh, and Budget Rice Mills.
