Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has pointed an accusing finger at President William Ruto for failing to listen to the people.

Gachagua on Monday accused the president of demeaning the presidency by allegedly orchestrating politics of division and insults to Kenyans, claiming the same was coming out clear from his leaders allied to him.

“Mr. President. You are demeaning the presidency. The presidency is the symbol of national unity, a dignified office. When you result to abuses and insults, abusing the people of Kenya yet you are a president, you are demeaning that office,” Gachagua said.

The former DP spoke during the funeral service of the late Mzee William Nderitu Ngatia, father to Laikipia Senator John Kinyua. Here, he stated that when he was DP, he advised President William Ruto against unpopular decisions, which he has continued to make.

“I told you not to touch the mountain. You touched. You know what has happened. I told you not to touch the payslip, you touched it and you know what has happened,” Gachagua added.

A host of leaders allied from both sides attended the fete where mourners and guests were also treated to a session of shouting down those who orchestrated Gachagua ouster as the Deputy President.

Nyahururu Catholic Bishop who presided over the ceremony blushed leaders saying they ought to be “truthful” and champion the interests of the people without discrimination or favour.

Laikipia East Member of Parliament Mwangi Kiunjuri led MPs allied to President William Ruto in affirming their support for the Kenya Kwanza government in order to ensure it delivers its mandate and pre-election pledges to Kenyans.

However, this did not augur well with a section of leaders who are close allies of the former DP, who described the former as sycophants and who betrayed Kenyans.

Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga said it was to rise up and called on the government for planning to remove senior government officials from Mt. Kenya from their positions among them Chief Justice Martha Koome.

He rallied residents from the region to ensure they mark-out “betrayers” of the people noting that despite claiming to champion the interests of the people, no meaningful development has been realized since the Kenya Kwanza administration came into power.
