Kathiani MP Robert Mbui has censured Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over his constant ridicule on the opposition.
According to Mbui, DP Gachagua should realize that he is the second in command and desist from making blatant remarks against those who do not support the government including trashing the ongoing bi-partisan talks.
“At the level of the office he is holding, he must find a way to unite Kenyans that is a unifying office. If he comes to our region and we did not vote for Kenya Kwanza he should respect our wishes he should listen to us,” he said.
The legislator was speaking on Citizen TV’s Daybreak show on Monday.
Mbui went on to add that so dire is the situation that Gachagua is making contrasting pronouncements over the bipartisan talks from those of his boss William Ruto.
He argued that Gachagua should learn to censure his comments and back his boss, noting that it will cripple the gains being made on achieving a lasting solution to the dispute between government and opposition.
“I think there is a problem within the Kenya Kwanza leadership. Why is it that the Head of State stands and says he supports an initiative and puts our team together to go and talk to our team,” he said.
“The Deputy, in every opportunity he gets, wants to rubbish the same process. What was the purpose of parliament sitting down and voting in favour of the National Dialogue committee if the DP goes to Ukambani the next day to insult the same process.”

He was referring to Gachagua’s sentiments he made during the burial ceremony of the late Anne Musau, the mother of Mwala MP Vincent Musyoka (Kawaya), where he opined that Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka might be used for political gains without reaping the intended benefits for his political stronghold.
Gachagua claimed that Kalonzo would be left in the cold with nothing to benefit his political backyard, just as he was after the 2018 handshake.
“These talks being led by Kalonzo, there is nothing to wait from there. 2018 Raila aliendea handshake na Uhuru, hakuambia Kalonzo…hakuenda nayeye. Akaenda akatengeneza deal yake na Uhuru wakamalizana.”
“Projects zote alitoa kwa Uhuru akapeleka kwao. Kuna project alileta huku? Lakini nyinyi ata baada ya kufanyia nyinyi hivo, mkamtafuta mkaanguka nayeye.”
Gachagua further stated that nothing will come out of the dialogue and they are only meant to hoodwink Kenyans.
