The celebrations mark the 61st Jamhuri Day celebrations when Kenya became a republic on December 12, 1963.

Thousands of Kenyans thronged Uhuru Gardens amid tight security deployed throughout the venue to ensure the smooth flow of the event.

According to Prime CS Musalia Mudavadi, Barrow’s visit at a cardinal event highlights the strong ties between Kenya and Gambia.

“We are privileged to have President Barrow grace our 61st Jamhuri Day celebrations as the Chief Guest, a moment that underscores the strong bonds of friendship and cooperation between our nations,” Mudavadi said while welcoming the Gambian president into the country.
