A herdsman who was looking after his cattle was on Sunday, February 26 attacked by a stray buffalo at Bodhai Sub County in Garissa County.

Confirming the incident, Ijara KWS Warden Adan Alio said that on Sunday 26, February at around 5 pm, a buffalo attacked and injured Ahmed Abdi Bilal aged 67 years at Bodhai area while he was herding his livestock.

The victim suffered deep throat injuries, face, and leg wounds. He was treated at Bodhai Bispensary and referred to Masalani District Hospital.

“His condition is stable. We shall attend and verify the same on Monday. More information to follow,” the warden said.

The injured herdsman is being attended to by doctors at Masalani Sub-county Referral Hospital.

Medical Officer Dr. Abdi Mali Ibrahim said he was hit in the collarbone, and legs by a marauding buffalo but added he is out of danger.

Human and wildlife conflict is rampant in the area due to the current drought and wild animals compete with the herdsmen for available water and pasture.
