Narc Kenya Party leader Martha Karua has urged Members of Parliament to reconsider their stance in the ongoing impeachment motion against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. In her statement, Karua emphasized that leaders should prioritize the needs and voices of the citizens over political maneuvering.
She stressed that any attempt to divert the public’s attention from pressing issues would only lead to greater unity among the people, highlighting how the revolutionary spirit sparked by Generation Z is resonating across all age groups.
“If this was meant to distract people’s focus to facilitate advancement of the shady Adani deal, the negation of the right to quality health services through SHIF, and unresolved murders, abductions, and intimidation, then it has failed #ImpeachBoth,” Karua wrote on her X account.
She further added, “If this was meant to set citizens against each other, it has only unified their voice #ImpeachBoth. Parliamentarians need to rethink their moves or risk opposing the will of the people, as happened during the #RejectFinanceBill2024 #ImpeachBoth.”
Make no mistake the revolution the GenZ started is spreading through all generations , citizens voices and their interests are the priority not political games #ImpeachBoth

The latest update comes as the public participation exercise on Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s impeachment enters its second day. The National Assembly had extended the exercise to give more Kenyans the opportunity to participate after many missed out on the initial session held on Friday.
In a statement, the Clerk of the National Assembly announced, “Further to the public participation exercise which commenced on October 2, and the collection of views on October 4, all 290 constituency offices and the 47 county women representative offices, under the Parliamentary Service Commission, will remain open on Saturday, October 5, 2024, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to facilitate further public input on the Special Motion.”
Despite the extension, some constituencies, particularly in Nyeri and the North Eastern region, saw low turnout. Several residents in these areas indicated that the day was not convenient as many had prior commitments, which may have affected participation levels.
