General Muhoozi’s bodyguard accused of assaulting a pregnant woman

Captain Yona Asasira, who one of the principal bodyguards to General Muhoozi Keinerugaba is under probe after allegedly assaulting a pregnant woman in Ntungamo District, Uganda.

Asasira, a member of the Uganda elite Special Forces Command (SFC) allegedly assaulted Mereth Nayebare amid a land row with a family.

The bodyguard of the First Son allegedly assaulted Nayebare and smashed her phone for taking pictures of him clearing part of the family land in a conflict with neighbours.

“I got my phone to take pictures of people who came to our land, then Capt Asasira saw me. He forcefully grabbed my phone and kept it for some time and threatened to shoot me if I didn’t give him a password for my phone,” Nayebare told the monitor.

Asasira is among the neighbors of the land in question that is contested by the victim husband’s family, the community, and Ntungamo sub-county local government.

He is said to have been in the process of clearing the ground where General Muhoozi shall be hosted on Tuesday, June 27.

According to court papers seen by the Ugandan publication, Asasira assaulted Nayebare a wife to one of the complaints namely Tayebwa Francis.

“Capt Asasira Yona a UPDF Soldier under SFC purporting to have state authority and was driving a state house motor vehicle Reg. No UG40100C Toyota Premio white in color came with a government tractor Reg No. UG 2087W and in the company of some local leaders, trespassed on our Client’s land, destroyed some of our client’s developments, graded part of the land, and created artificial boundaries without any legal basis,” read court papers.

While Nayebare says she reported the matter to police under reference 5D33/19106/2023, Ntungamo district police commander Hannington Bushaiija denied knowing about the reported case.
