Gengetone artiste FatBoy Gwaash has shared a reflection on life after quitting alcohol, offering a glimpse into the personal changes he has experienced.

Speaking in an Instagram post on Sunday, April 19, 2026, Gwaash revealed that he has been off alcohol for 108 days, describing the period as a turning point that has reshaped how he sees life, money, and relationships.

“Ni 108 days tangu niwache chingri… na nimelearn vitu kadhaa,” he said, marking what he described as a personal reset.

He admitted that quitting alcohol has not automatically translated into financial stability. “Si ati ukiacha utakuwa na doo… mimi hata saa hii sina, lakini pesa inaenda pahali panafaa,” he added, pointing out that money now goes to more meaningful use.

Friends drift away

The ‘Sherehe haitaki hasira’ hitmaker also spoke about changes in his social circle, saying some friendships faded after he stopped drinking.

“Mabeshte watakutoka… hapo ndio utajua nani alikuwa wako na nani alikuwa wa uduu,” he said, suggesting that sobriety reveals genuine relationships.

He noted that the experience has helped him understand people differently, adding that his thinking has shifted significantly.

Clearer thinking

According to him, his mindset is now sharper and more focused, especially in his music career.

Kufikiria kwangu kumechange… naona mambo tofauti, na inaenda vile inafaa,” he said, explaining that his decisions and perspective have improved.

He also linked the change to his creative work, saying his music is now more intentional. “Ata kwa kazi yangu, focus iko poa… natoa ngoma vile inafaa,” he added.

While reflecting on his journey, Gwaash encouraged moderation when it comes to substance use, but avoided preaching.

“Watu wapunguze mihadarati… lakini maisha ni yako, advice mingi sitaleta,” he said.

Since 2025, Gwash has been documenting his lifestyle journey, focusing mainly on weight loss and healthy living, alongside his shift away from alcohol.
