Homa Bay governor Gladys Wanga brought the house down at a political gathering in Kisumu on Saturday, 13 September 2026, when she hit the floor dancing alongside Kisumu governor Anyang’ Nyong’o and threw in a joke that had the crowd in stitches.
The event, a meeting between President William Ruto and Kisumu grassroots leaders, was filmed indoors under a tented venue packed with a large audience.

But it was Wanga’s moment on the sidelines of the formal proceedings that went viral. She danced vigorously with the veteran politician and academic, then quipped that Nyong’o had nearly got her “atafanya nifukuzwe” almost getting her kicked out of her home, a lighthearted nod to her husband, who was present in the crowd.
The clip, shared by Lightcast TV Kenya on TikTok, showed both governors in high spirits, with Wanga dancing energetically while Nyong’o matched her energy step for step.
Wanga, who has built a reputation as one of Kenya’s most vibrant county leaders since her election in 2022, clearly had no reservations about letting loose.
Nyong’o, a longtime political figure and scholar who has served Kisumu for years, proved he still has plenty of energy when the music plays.
“Professor will make me get chased, and the owner of the house is also here. Please just wave at the public from wherever you are,” she said.
