Bard now offers image generation in English while Gemini Pro can be used in any language.

Google has announced new updates to its AI-powered language model, Bard whereby the latest advancements seek to empower users worldwide to harness the power of AI for boundless creativity and enhanced accessibility.

Users can now generate images in Bard in most countries and use Gemini Pro in any language, country and territory where Bard is currently supported.

Previously available in English, the powerful language model powering Bard, Gemini Pro, now supports over 40 languages and is accessible in more than 230 countries.

According to Google, this expansion allows users to leverage Bard’s advanced capabilities for tasks that include enhanced understanding and reasoning, improved summarization as well as streamlined coding.

Leading evaluator of language models and chatbots across languages, the Large Model Systems Organisation, recently revealed that Bard with Gemini Pro is one of the most preferred chatbots available (with or without cost).

The organization further noted that Bard with Gemini Pro has made a “stunning leap” forward.

“Blind evaluations with our third-party raters identified Bard with Gemini Pro as one of the top performing chatbots compared to other leading free and paid alternatives,” Google said in a statement.

“We have expanded Bard’s double-check feature, which is already used by millions of people in English, to over 40 languages.”

The tech giant further noted that the tool has been designed to empower users to verify the accuracy of Bard’s responses by referencing supporting information from the web.

This is a way to foster trust and transparency.

On the platform, when users click on the “G” icon, Bard will evaluate whether there is content across the web to substantiate its response.

If responses can be evaluated, users can click the highlighted phrases and learn more about supporting or contradicting information found by Search.

For an extra creative boost, Bard now offers image generation in English for most countries around the world and at no cost.

This new capability is powered by Google’s updated Imagen 2 model, which is designed to balance quality and speed, delivering high-quality, photorealistic outputs.

One can just type in a description like, “create an image of a dog riding a surfboard” and Bard will generate custom, wide-ranging visuals to help bring your idea to life.

Consistent with Google’s AI Principles, the tech giant said, image generation has been designed with responsibility in mind.

For instance, to ensure there’s a clear distinction between visuals created with Bard and original human artwork, Bard uses SynthID to embed digitally identifiable watermarks into the pixels of generated images.

Google’s technical guardrails and investments in the safety of training data seek to limit violent, offensive or sexually explicit content.

Additionally, Google noted that it applies filters designed to avoid the generation of images of named people.

“These updates make Bard an even more helpful and globally accessible AI collaborator for everything from big, creative projects to smaller, everyday tasks,” Google said.
