The Senate will today, Tuesday 8, hold a plenary to hear the impeachment motion against Isiolo Governor Abdi Guyo.
The House will provide an opportunity for both the County Assembly and Governor Guyo to present their statements in the afternoon session, which will end with the cross-examination and re-examination for the County Assembly for 5 hours.
The session will continue on Wednesday, starting with an extension of the County Assembly’s cross-examination, which will be followed by the Governor’s grilling.
The House will discuss the grounds for Guyo’s ouster, which include gross misconduct, abuse of office, and violation of various laws and the Constitution.

The motion cited numerous leadership shortcomings, such as the stalling of major development projects, failure to achieve revenue targets, and the creation of a bloated executive, appointing 36 advisors and 31 chief officers, despite Isiolo County receiving the third-lowest revenue allocation nationally.
In addition, Guyo was accused of issuing short-term, two-year contracts to chief officers, a move the County Assembly argued created an “environment of fear and uncertainty.”
The impeachment motion moved forward despite a court order prohibiting the Assembly from proceeding with the process.
