Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr has distributed letters of allotment to 179 plot owners in Kikima town, Mbooni subcounty, aimed at enhancing land tenure security.

Governor Mutula highlighted that Makueni County has long faced challenges with land ownership disputes, which have hindered development and occasionally led to violence.

He emphasized his administration’s commitment to resolving these issues by working closely with the National Ministry for Lands. Plans include titling 157 parcels in Emali, 349 parcels in Kibwezi, and 410 parcels in Makindu, with allotment letters ready for 104 parcels in Nunguni town, Kaiti.

Nicholas Nzioka, the Executive Committee Member for Lands, noted that the county government is collaborating with the National Land Commission to expedite adjudication and issuance of title deeds in various settlement schemes and sections.

These include Ngai, Mang’elete, Muthingiini, Ngaindethya, Kyamuoso, Kiboko A and C, Utithi, and Kathyaka. The county is also conducting land clinics to assist residents in completing affidavits and processing estate successions, facilitating quicker issuance of title deeds.

Earlier this year, Governor Mutula distributed 600 title deeds to public utilities such as schools, churches, water dams, and cattle dips, safeguarding them against land grabbing and encroachment by unscrupulous individuals.
