A Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC) official was on Tuesday arraigned for allegedly forging his academic qualifications to secure employment as a Supply Chain Management Officer at the State body.

Dennis Thuo Kimani appeared before the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court where he denied charges of forging a university degree from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).

“Investigations established that Dennis forged a Degree Certificate in Purchasing and Supplies Chain Management and Transcripts from 1st to 4th year, purporting them to be genuine documents legitimately attained from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT),” a source at the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) told Citizen Digital.

“Appearing before Anti-Corruption Principal Magistrate Hon. Gichana, the accused denied the charges of forgery, uttering false documents and fraudulent acquisition of public property being the cumulative amount of salaries and benefits that he earned based on the fake certificates.”

The suspect was freed on a bond of Ksh.700,000 or a cash bail of Ksh.200,000.

His case will be mentioned on March 11, 2024.
