A 60-year-old man has died from gunshot wounds he sustained Monday night when a team of nine unknown persons raided a general store in Suneka, Bonchari Constituency, Kisii County.
According to a police report, Peter Nyaende Monga, who is a security guard at the shop, was shot in the back by the assailants.
It is said that the attackers were armed with AK47 rifles and pistols when they entered the shop and started shooting in the air.
Some of them are said to have broken into an Mpesa booth and found the attendant doing the day’s count while others continued to shoot the employees in the store.
The suspects managed to escape with an unknown amount of money using a boda boda.
Workers Vivian Ouru ,24, and her cousin Edwin Maronga, 26, were injured on the right hand and head injuries caused by a blunt object respectively.
The two continue to receive treatment at the Marble Hospital in Suneka while the body of the deceased was taken to Nyangena hospital mortuary.
