Harambee Stars defender David ‘Cheche’ Ochieng has tipped Iran to offer the Kenyan side a deserved friendly match on March 28 in Tehran.
The Stars face the Asian giants ranked 24 by Fifa, the first international match for the Stars since the global football body ifted the ban suspended on the Kenyan team and Ochieng is of the view the team can learn some vital lessons in the clash.
“I think most of us saw them in the World Cup and are a good team,” he said. “If you play any team which featured in the World Cup of course it will be a good friendly match and a good match for the national team Harambee Stars.”
Ochieng also stated that he is fit and should he be named in Firat’s travelling squad and make it to the starting eleven, he is more than ready to face the Iranians.
“So far I know most of you have been coming to the FKF Premier League and I have actually played four matches by now – against big teams namely Gor Mahia, AFC Leopards, Sofapaka and recently Bandari. So anybody who has been coming to our matches I think can’t talk bad about my performances, he has seen how the matches were.”
He went on: “ I feel good and for now we are training and God willing if I will be selected to travel with the team and also play then I am ready and senior enough to know when I am fit or not to play for the national team”, Ochieng concluded.
