A fisherman at Litare Beach on Rusinga Island, Homa Bay, has reportedly died by suicide following a disagreement with his wife over missing Sh9,000. The incident involved 28-year-old David Ochieng, who claimed the cash had gone missing from their house, leading to a heated argument between the couple.

According to Ochieng, he accused his wife of stealing the money from where he had hidden it. Isaiah Pero, the chairman of the Litare Beach Management Unit, stated, “Ochieng has always threatened to take away his life every time he had a disagreement with his wife.”

Hours later, Ochieng was found hanging from the rooftop of his rented house, with his wife absent at the time. The body was discovered by a neighbor, who then alerted beach officials and the police. Pero suspects that Ochieng may have taken his life after returning home and finding his house empty and his wife missing. The body has been taken to Kirindo Morgue, where it awaits a postmortem.
