This is a tragic incident where two women, Roseline Akinyi Opiyo, aged 29, and Judith Achieng Ochiel, aged 28, lost their lives due to electrocution while washing clothes at a rental house in Sikwadhi trading Centre, Homa Bay County.
The women came into contact with live electric current when they hung their wet clothes on a clothesline that was in contact with an illegally connected live electric wire.
The incident occurred on Monday morning when Roseline inadvertently touched the metal wire and was electrocuted. In an attempt to help her friend, Judith also came into contact with the live wire and was tragically electrocuted on the spot as well. Both women died instantly.
