President William Ruto was on Friday, December 12, 2025, forced to duck for cover after a fighter jet performing an airshow during the 2025 Jamhuri Day celebrations at Nyayo Stadium thundered loudly near the VIP dais.
In a livestream by K24 TV on X, the event’s MC is heard alerting the President, dignitaries, and the assembled crowd to brace themselves, explaining that the jet would leave only a piercing sound in its wake and would likely be too fast to see clearly.
At that moment, President Ruto, alongside his bodyguard and other VIP attendees, could be seen turning their gaze in the direction indicated to catch a glimpse of the aircraft.
However, the situation escalated rapidly as the jet passed far quicker than anticipated. It produced a shrill roar and gusts of hot wind that, combined with the explosive sound, prompted everyone at the VIP dais to instinctively duck for cover.

The President, who quickly became the focal point of the livestream, was seen leaning beside his bodyguard and breaking into laughter seconds after the commotion subsided.
He later applauded as the celebrations reached a fevered pitch, joining Kenyans in their jubilant cheers from the stands.
Dance moment
The event, despite the earlier commotion, was punctuated by a trove of captivating moments, including a standout occasion when President Ruto became the centre of attention, showcasing his smooth dance moves to the popular club banger ‘Anguka Nayo’ by the Gengetone group, The Wadagliz.
Several artistes were performing at the event on Friday, December 12, 2025, but it was this particular song that made him stand up and move with an ear-to-ear smile.
During Iyanii’s performance, Ruto was spotted trying to dance while seated. He kept his moves small, but his excitement was clear. His smile did not fade as he followed the beat from his chair.
However, when Anguka Nayo started playing, he could not hold back any longer.
He stood up, faced the crowd, and began dancing with energy. At one point, he laughed as he moved to the beat, showing he was not afraid to reveal he had some moves too.
He enjoyed the moment for a short while before taking his seat again, still smiling. The performance created a light moment in the stadium and showed a relaxed side of the president as he enjoyed the music just like everyone else.
